Fall Out Boy American Beauty/American Psycho Tour
AECC, Aberdeen
04/10/15

Support Acts:
Charley Marley
Matt and Kim
Professor Green

On Sunday I attended Fall Out Boy’s Scottish leg of their tour and with their only Scottish date in the AECC in Aberdeen there was a lot of buzz in the crowd.

The show kicked off with the lively Londoner Charley Marley, whom I wasn’t familiar with. He chatted to the crowd and said that he was recently signed by Pete Wentz record label which cued screaming from the crowd at the mere mention of the Fall Out Boy bassists name. The music was loud and upbeat, heavily hip hop and reggae influenced.

Up next was Matt and Kim who were wild. An alternative dance duo who had such an energy about them you couldn’t help but be captivated. Whether it was Kim standing on her drum kit or shaking her “thang” to get the crowd involved or them throwing balloons into the audience to create a party atmosphere like no other. It has like being at a rave. The music was easy to get into and I found myself dancing away to the beat.

The final support act was Professor Green, who has had a string of hits in the UK. He was flanked by a girl, whose name I didn’t catch, who belted out the female vocal line of his big hits like Read All About It. I recognised most of the songs played like Be Good To Green and Monster. Prof Green looked to be having an absolute blast which resonated in his energetic performance.

Each support act got about 20/30 minutes with each performance more hyped up than the last it was hard not to be ready for Fall Out Boy coming onto the stage.

Once Green had finished his set it was time for the main event. Fall Out Boy entered to a deafening cheer inside a packed AECC. This was 90 minutes of all killer and no filler. Taking tracks from their latest album American Beauty/American Psycho along with some their big hits like This Ain’t A Scene, Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, Dance Dance and my personal favourite, Suger We’re Going Down.

They even played a couple acoustic tracks from the centre of the arena on a platform. A little comedown before it was on with heavy drum beats and guitar riffs.

During the title track American Beauty/American Psycho, balloons where bouncing around that were made to look like eyeballs. A very interactive and enjoyable experience to say the least!

Between every couple songs, Pete Wentz would banter with the crowd and introduce tracks, allowing us to catch our breath between dancing and screaming song lyrics. It was all very friendly and worth going to see.
